The Heavitree Practice is involved in training new GPs.

Dr Barker and Dr Ball are the appointed trainers for the new GPs. However, all doctors are involved in training and assist them through the beginning of their career . These doctors are qualified doctors who have already done some hospital work. Before they can practice as GP's in their own right they need to spend 18 months in a GP environment.

We also have Medical Students attached to the Practice as part of their training in order to gain an understanding of general practice. When booking your appointments you will be advised if medical students will be in attendance during your consultation.  If you do not wish medical students to be present you will be offered the option of booking into a different session.
